AMERICAN (NON-NATIVE)

There are about one thousand objects by US artists in the Denison collection. Of these, most are prints, etchings, lithographs, drawings, and woodcuts. The remainder of the collection comprises paintings, sculpture, photographs, and watercolors. The largest portions of the collection are prints by Winslow Homer, Rockwell Kent, and John Sloan, and oil paintings by Charles Curran. Other artists represented include Claes Oldenburg, Luis Jimenez, John James Audubon, Robert Rauschenburg, Thomas Hart Benton, Chaim Gross, Mary Cassatt, Eastman Johnson, Ellsworth Kelly, Louise Nevelson, Currier and Ives, and James Whistler, among others.

“I really appreciated the wide range of tasks I was able to complete during my time at the Denison Museum. Some days I spent painting galleries, while other days were dedicated to collections care, cataloging, research or marketing.”
